Three ‘thalassaemia’ patients await support of govt, philanthropists

PESHAWAR: Parents of three teenage daughters suffering from ‘thalassaemia’ sought the support of either the government or philanthropists to get their children treated, on Monday.

Insafullah, a resident of Khaddi Mir Ali said that he was a businessman in his area but due to operation Zarb-e-Azb his shop was demolished and he lost about 5.5 million, adding that he was left with nothing to arrange for treatment of his daughters suffering from the hereditary disease from their very childhood.

He said that his daughters Ayesha Sadiqa, Mehsan and Hira Naz – aged 11, 9 and 7 respectively – were diagnosed with thalassaemia at the age of three months. He said that he had sold two kanals for their treatment and is bearing Rs 45,000 monthly expenses for their medication and treatment.

He also said that he had taken them to every corner of the country and famous hospital like Islamabad PIMS and Peshawar Agha Khan Hospital but doctors did not satisfy him. He added that he had a total of nine children from two wives of whom the three daughters were thalassaemia patients while the rest were healthy.

He also informed that currently his daughters were under treatment at Peshawar Hamza Foundation. He demanded that the Ministry of SAFRON, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and governor, and philanthropists to support him.
