PCSIR to set up its centre in Faisalabad

FAISALABAD: Pakistan Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (PCSIR) will set up a multipurpose Textile Testing Research Centre (TTRC) in Faisalabad with an estimated cost of Rs 429 million, PCSIR Chairman Dr Shahzad Alam said on Saturday.

Addressing a meeting at the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FCCI), he said that the government had officially approved the project which would help give a quantum jump to the textile exports by the SME sector.

He said that his visit was aimed at consulting the stakeholders to make the project more beneficial and productive particularly for the textile sector.

He said that the PCSIR had nine laboratories and seven academic institutes, which were working in all parts of the country.

Regarding Certification Incentive Programme (CIP) of the PCSIR, he said that Rs 745 million had been earmarked under the programme.

He announced that a special PCSIR desk would be set up at the FCCI which would link industrialists with the R&D labs of PCSIR.

Earlier, in his welcome address, Engineer Ahmad Hasan, vice president of FCCI, underlined the economic importance of Faisalabad.

He also presented a shield and a set of CPEC books published by R&D Section to Dr Shahzad Alam.
