Special Assistant to Chief Minister (CM) for Minorities Affairs Dr Khatu Mal Jeewan has said that during the current financial year, the Minority Affairs Department will set up handicraft centres in the minority majority populated areas to ensure that the people can become skilled and are able to earn a respectable livelihood.

Chairing a departmental meeting in his office on Sunday, Dr Khatu directed the Minority Affairs Department director to start the initial administrative work in this regard. He said that primary schools will also be set up to promote child education.

Dr Khatu said that a comprehensive report should be prepared at divisional level to enable the appropriate steps to start the project. He said that in the first phase, this scheme should be started in Mirpurkhas Division, where a large number of minorities reside.

He also directed the executive engineer to complete the initial work for the project as soon as possible.
