ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Serena Hotel (ISH), in collaboration with the Turkish Embassy, inaugurated a week-long culinary art ‘Turkish Food Festival’ at the Zamana Restaurant on Friday.

The experts of the Turkish cuisine were transported from the renowned Ottoman Imperial Palace Hotel on the Bosphorus and the Ciragan Palace Kempinski located in Istanbul.

The hotel was delighted to welcome the sous chef Serdar Ongel, station chef Davut Kutlugun, and pastry chef and chocolatier Servet Kanat. All of them were experienced chefs who came from Ciragan Palace exclusively for this festival.

With Turkish cuisine on the centre of the stage, a wide variety of soups, mezze and kebabs are also featured on the daily menu along with desserts and assortments. The sea food is also featured along with a live counter, serving shawarmas.

The food was accompanied by Turkish musicians playing mystical music, which made the event all the more interesting.

ISH General Manager Michel A Galopin said, “We are delighted to be able to bring international flavours and gastronomical delights to Pakistan. Familiarity with other cultures and cuisines is a way to experience the world and we are proud to partner with the Turkish Embassy for our Turkish Food Festival.”

Turkish Ambassador Sadik Babur Girgin said, “We are honoured to bring the original taste and traditions of Turkey to Pakistan. Such activities bridge the cultural gaps between the two nations and incite more friendship.”

The festival is a part of the hotel’s ‘Cultural Diplomacy’ initiative. After the great success of the culinary art ‘Thai Food Festival’ in March, it is expected that the Turkish food festival will also bedazzle the guests.
