ISLAMABAD: After the Sharif family, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar along with Tariq Shafi will also appear before the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) at 3 pm tomorrow, over the allegations of accumulation of assets beyond known sources of income, it was learnt.

Dar will appear before NAB along with verified record to prove his innocence.

A copy of NAB letter available with Pakistan Today reveals that NAB has started investigations against Senator Ishaq Dar.

In this regard, NAB has also asked the SECP chief to present verified documents of seven companies owned by the Dar family and depute the concerned officer to attend the investigation by the Combined Investigation Team in Lahore on August 23, 2017.

“In compliance with the order of the Supreme Court, dated 28-07-2017, NAB Lahore is going to file a reference against the accused persons on the subject allegation,” stated the NAB letter.

According to the letter, the companies are CNG Pakistan Limited, Spencer Distribution (Pvt.) Limited, Gulf Insurance Company, Hajveri Holdings (Pvt.) Limited, HDS Securities (Pvt.) Limited and Hajveri Modaraba Management Company (Pvt.) Ltd.

According to sources, NAB is set to file four separate references against the Sharif family and the finance minister by September 8. Record of companies owned by Dar family will be scrutinized by NAB prior to filing a reference against them.

NAB’s Executive Board has already decided to file these references in the accountability courts of Rawalpindi and Islamabad within six weeks from the date of judgment. The references will be prepared on the basis of the material collected and referred by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) in its report, said sources.

Earlier, a five-member larger bench of the apex court, headed by Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, after disqualifying Nawaz Sharif ordered the NAB to file references against Sharif, his sons, son-in-law Captain (retd) Safdar, including Dar, in its ruling in Panama Papers case.

NAB references will be filed against Sharif, Maryam, Hussain, Hassan, and Capt (retd) Safdar relating to the Avenfield Properties, comprising flat No 16 and 16-A, 17 and 17-A Avenfield House, in Park Lane area of  London. Another reference will be filed against Nawaz and Hussain with regard to the establishment of Azizia Steel Company and Hill Metal Company. NAB will file a third reference against the deposed premier, Hussain and Hassan with regard to the companies mentioned in paragraph 9 of the judgment. And, the fourth reference would be filed against Ishaq Dar for possessing assets beyond his known sources of income.
