President Asif Ali Zardari has given nod for withdrawing the cases registered against the PML-Q leaders in Sindh, including Altaf Hussain Unar, who is accused of murder attempt against Zardari’s sister Azra Fazal Pechuho. However, no member of the government or the top PML-Q leader is confirming the reports about the move.
According to PML-Q Larkana Division General Secretary Babu Sarwar Siyal, the president had agreed to the demand before leaving for Russia. As a result of latest development, the case against PML-Q Senior Vice-President Altaf Unar, a provincial minister in the former government, and 72 other PML-Q workers will be withdrawn. Siyal says the PPP is also willing to settle the issue of Moonis Elahi but managing the affairs in his case is not easy as the matter is pending before a court.
Siyal told Online that the PPP and the PML-Q also finalised the deal for seat adjustment in Sindh besides ending the blame game targeting the respective party leaders. “Some of the Q league leaders contacted the Chaudhry brothers for clearing them off before any deal with the PPP and several of them met them Thursday,” Siyal, who is also nominated in multiple cases of killing and kidnapping, told Online at the Balochistan House.
Other beneficiaries include Ijaz Shah Sherazi, Malik Changiz Khan, former provincial minister Khan Muhammad Dairy, Dr Moula Bux Junejo and others. Meanwhile, well-placed sources say the PPP leadership is ready to induct Unar as a minister in the Sindh cabinet as the PML-Q will get four ministries in the province. The sources said besides Unar, Sherazi and Haleem Adil Sheikh, the names of Sheheryar Malik and Muhammad Ali Malkani are under consideration.
