Rangers DG briefs Ahsan about law, order in Karachi

  • Interior minister says people doing peaceful politics to be respected

The Rangers Sindh director general on Wednesday briefed Minister for Interior Affairs Ahsan Iqbal over the law and order in Karachi.

Senior officials of the Interior Ministry also attended the meeting, chaired by Ahsan Iqbal here at the ministry. On the occasion, the interior minister said that nobody would be allowed to sabotage peace in Karachi.

He said that Karachi was the backbone for the progress of economy of Pakistan. He said that no leniency would be shown towards anti-state elements. He also said that those who were doing peaceful politics would be respected. He appreciated the abilities and services of the paramilitary forces.

A delegation of the Tehreek-i-Nifaz Fiqa Jafria also called on Ahsan Iqbal and felicitated him on taking over the charge of the Interior Ministry. Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Sardar Muhammad Yousaf was also present on the occasion.

The interior minister said that the religious tolerance was need of the hour. He said that extremism was a conspiracy and it aimed at dividing the Muslims among various sects. “People belonging to all sects should play their role in development and prosperity by putting aside their differences,” he added.

The government was taking measures to cope with challenges of extremism and terrorism being faced by the country, he said and expressed the government’s resolve to create such atmosphere where every citizen would receive their due respect in the society.

Ahsan also assured the delegation that the security would be further strengthened in the country during the month of Muharramul Haram.
