ISLAMABAD: A delegation of Pakistani students would leave for Malaysia on August 19, to participate in Asian Science Camp (ASC), 2017.

“The camp will be held from August 20 to 27, at a private university called University Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR) located in Kampar, Perak in Malaysia,” said an official of the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).

ASC is a seven-day event held annually in different countries of Asia, attracting thousands of young scientists – aged 16 to 21 – from 48 participating countries.

ASC, 2017, is the eleventh such event of the series.

The PSF sponsored the participation of the young Pakistani students – with an objective to give them a greater insight into science and its applications – for the benefit of mankind, through participation in ASC. The activities for this purpose will include lectures and demonstrations from the leading scientists, visits to industrial sites, research centres, scientific institutions, world-class laboratories and universities.

The students will also get a chance to share their ideas and projects with fellow students around the world, and with eminent scientists and Nobel laureates.

The short-listed students, after an initial screening on the basis of educational qualifications and age, were called for a written test, interview and presentation, in Islamabad, Lahore, Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar as per their convenience.
