Appeal in Pearl case: SHC issues notices to convicts’ counsels

KARACHI: Sindh High Court (SHC) on Wednesday heard the appeals of convicts in murder case of American journalist Daniel Pearl.

A division bench of the high court headed by Chief Justice Ahmed Ali Sheikh heard the appeals of the convicts, including Omar Saeed Sheikh, Fahad Naseem and Salman Saqib.

Counsels of the convicts did not appear before the court.

Upon this, the court directed to issue notices to the counsels of the convicts for appearance.

Omer Saeed Sheikh was sentenced to death for killing American journalist Daniel Pearl in 2002, while Fahad Naseem and Salman Saqib were handed down life terms by an anti-terrorism court.

The convicts had filed an appeal against their sentence in SHC.
