- Mushahid presents CPEC report to Abbasi at PM Office
Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday said that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) was a game changer, not only for Pakistan but for the entire region.
“The CPEC projects are testament to the ever strengthening China-Pakistan relations and will also go a long way in securing a bright future for Pakistan,” he said in a meeting with Parliamentary Committee on CPEC Chairman Senator Mushahid Hussain here at the PM Office.
Abbasi appreciated the committee’s role in building consensus over the CPEC projects. “These (CPEC) projects are our government’s highest priority and I am personally supervising progress be it infrastructure, energy, railway or other sectors,” he said. Senator Mushahid presented report on CPEC to the prime minister.
POLIO ERADICATION: Chairing a high-level meeting here at the PM Office, Prime Minister Abbasi called for an urgent meeting of the National Task Force on Polio Eradication. Minister for National Health Services Saira Afzal Tarar and National Polio Eradication Programme Chairperson Ayesha Raza Farooq briefed the prime minister on progress regarding the polio eradication.
The prime minister said that the political leadership was committed to polio eradication from Pakistan. “It is a matter of survival of our next generation, hence we take full ownership of polio eradication from the country,” he said, adding that the polio eradication requires a concerted effort from provincial governments, district administration, civil society and donors.
The prime minister expressed satisfaction over the progress made by the Ministry of National Health Services and the National Polio Eradication Programme in significantly restricting the polio virus through oral dosage.
