Janmashtami celebrations kick off

HYDERABAD: A three-day long festival of Hindu community “Janam Ashtami,” the birth of Lord Krishna began in Hyderabad and all over the province on Tuesday with religious fervour, zeal and enthusiasm like other parts of the world.

The elected representatives, scholars and notables of Hindu community, including Advocate M Parkash, Advocate Jagdish, former MPA Eashwar Lal , Dr Sri Chand, Shankar Lal , eminent educationalist  Dadi Leela , Mahesh Kumar, Advocate Khem Chund, and others, told APP that the ideology of Lord Sri Krishna was to bind and unite people with love, peace, affection and brotherhood and there is a need to spread his ideology in order to bring a cordial atmosphere in the society.

They also greeted the community members on the eve of Janam Ashtami and said that besides their religious duties, the people may also pray for the integrity, progress, prosperity and solidarity of the country.

Janam Ashtami followed by Thadri is one of the biggest religious festivals of Hindus.

Various organisations and religious groups have started their already chalked-out events and religious gatherings, which included recitation of Gita and Janam Ashtami prayers in all temples of Sindh, particularly the temples, known as Gunpat temples, they added.

Meanwhile, the administration has adopted strict security arrangements in order to avert any untoward incident during the celebrations.
