‘Govt committed to eradicating terrorism, load-shedding’

ISLAMABAD: Minister of State for Capital Administration and Development Division (CADD) Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudhry reiterated his government’s resolve to eradicate the menace of terrorism, and load-shedding, provide jobs to the youth and spread education across of the country.

Speaking as a chief guest at a special event held at the National Institute for Special Education (NISE), to celebrate the Independence Day, he said that celebrating the independence of the country with special children was his conscious decision, as he wanted to make a statement that the physically and the mentally challenged individuals are a valuable component of the society.

He said, “Independence Day is a time to reflect and ponder upon the past and make new resolutions for the future.”

The event was attended by the students of the institutes of special education, and public institutes, working under the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE).

Students, dressed in green and white, presented national songs which were appreciated by the audience. Defying their physical inabilities, special children were at the fore front of all the performances and collected accolades from the speakers.

The Minister said that he greatly valued the patriotic sentiments of the youth, and holds a firm belief that the new generation of the country will lead it to new heights.

“It is an outstanding obligation upon us all that we should work with devotion and dedication to make the country a land of our forefathers’ visions,” said the minister while remembering the sacrifices made by the forefathers of the country at the time of independence.

He said that five buses have been provided to the Special Education and Training Institutes of Islamabad, with a total cost of Rs 35 million. Two of these buses have been customized facilities to facilitate the travel of the disabled individuals, he added.

The minister also said that Rs 100 million has been provided for the renovation and up-gradation of the educational and training institutes of special education under the Prime Minister Education Reform Program (PMERP). Work on these institutes is in progress and will be completed within the next 2 to 3 weeks, he added.

Earlier, the Minister attended the flag-hoisting and cake-cutting ceremony with the children.
