Three dead, 24 injured in Bajaur blast

At least three people were killed and 24 others were injured in a remote-controlled bomb blast which hit the town of Nawagai in Bajaur Agency on Friday, political administration said.

The blast occurred in a truck at roadside in Chahrmang area of Nawagai, officials said. The injured were taken to Agency Headquarter Hospital. Seven of the injured are said to be in critical condition. The casualties are all said to be locals of the area. Bodies of the deceased were sent to their native towns.

Arrangements were also being made to shift the critically injured to hospitals in Peshawar via helicopter. Security forces cordoned off the site of the incident and started a search operation in the area.

At least two persons were killed and 25 other injured as a result of an Improvise Exploplosive Devise (IED) explosion just on Pak Afghan border in Bajaur Agency on Friday morning. Officials in political administration of Bajaur Agency informed that all victims were labourers.

According to officials, the labourers working with armed forces when resumed construction work in Mattak, of Charmang area of Tehsil Nawagai on Friday morning, the IED exploded with a big bang. As a result, two persons were killed and 25 other injured.

The injured persons were shifted first to Nawagai Civil Hospital and later to the Agency headquarter hospital in Khar, Bajaur Agency. Officials said that conditions of several injured is stated to be in danger.

The armed forces are engaged in construction of security forces check posts along with Pak Afghan border at different places throughout the tribal belt. Similarly fencing of Pak Afghan border is also in progress.

So far no any statement has been issued formally either by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) or political administration of Bajaur Agency. The Afghan government is lacking writ in border regions along with Bajaur and Mohmand Agencies.

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Iqal Zafar Jhagra on Friday strongly condemned bomb blast in Tehsil Mang of Bajaur Agency that claimed loss of precious lives.

In his message, the Governor expressed grief over loss of precious lives and sympathized with injured persons. He directed Political Administration to provide all health care facilities to injured persons.

The governor termed the blast cowardly attack by terrorists and said such attacks cannot shake the resolve of nation and the government to wipe out terrorism and extremism in all its forms and manifestations.
