Lahore Traffic Police Chief Rai Ijaz Ahmad has said that for the benefit of citizens during the PML-N rally, City Traffic Police has issued a comprehensive plan to ensure smooth flow of traffic. He said this at Police Lines District Gujar Singh on Wednesday, while issuing the traffic plan.
The journey from Imamia Colony Railway Station to Data Darbar has been divided into 11 sectors. A DSP will be in-charge of every sector.
According to Lahore Traffic Police Chief Rai Ijaz Ahmad, preparations have been made to deal with any emergency situation, which include 18 folk lifters, 5 break downs, a monitoring and control room and 6 medical camps. Directions have also been given regarding provision of emergency vehicles and ambulances. 4 SPs, 20 DSPs, 70 inspectors and 1,354 wardens have been appointed. 8 traffic squads have been formed as well.
CTO Lahore has told that citizens who are not part of the rally can avail information on alternate routes by calling the 15 helpline. City Traffic Radio FM 88.6 will also inform about the traffic situation every moment.
Traffic wardens, aside from maintaining the smooth flow of traffic, will also be observant of suspicious persons and vehicles.
Traffic on Bund Road, Mall Road, Canal Road and Ferozepur Road will continue as per routine, Rai Ijaz Ahmad said.
According to the traffic route plan, the rally, on Aug 11, will be moving from Gujranwala GT Road, because of which, GT road may be unavailable for regular traffic and citizens are advised to use Motorway instead. To access the Motorway from Lahore, Thokar Niaz Baig and Babu Sabu Interchange will be available to travel through. Saggian Bridge will also remain open for travel to Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Jaranwala and Sheikhupura. Traffic from Shahdara Town, Kala Khatai, Rasul Park and Bahar Shah Colony should travel to Lahore through the old Ravi Pull. For travelling to Lahore from Shahdara, Begum Kot, Jaya Moosi and Farakh Abad, the Saggian Bridge can be used.
Mall Road, Canal Road, Ferozepur Road, Bund Road and Ring Road will remain open for all kinds of traffic. Metro Bus Service will remain closed from MAO College to Shahdara, whereas it would be open for travel from MAO College to Gajjumatta.
