34 suspects arrested in police search operation

LAHORE: Taking no chances ahead of the arrival of former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Lahore, the security agencies and police in the provincial capital have stepped up their search operations to nab the suspected terrorists and outlaws.

At least 34 suspects were taken into custody during police search operation in different parts of Lahore on Wednesday night.

According to details, search operations were carried out in Nawan Kot, Lower Mall, Ravi Road, Sanda, Larri Adda, Ghalib Market, Maseerabad and Kot Lakhpat areas of the city.

Police searched hotels, bus stands, hostels and flats in these localities. A biometric device was used for the identification of the residents, and 34 persons were taken into custody who failed to produce any identity document.

Police sources informed that the arrested persons were shifted to police stations for further investigation.

On the other hand, police have also cordoned off the route of PML-N rally and started checking of suspected vehicles in the city.
