Boxer Amir Khan and wife Faryal Makhdoom have parted ways, the Pakistan-origin British boxer announced on Twitter on Friday.
In a series of tweets, Amir Khan first announced that he and Faryal have agreed to split and he wishes her all the best but the announcement soon turned into a tirade as the exchange between her and Faryal turned into an ugly fight.
In a flurry of tweets, Amir Khan also revealed that Faryal was seeing someone else, another boxer from a higher weight category.

It seems the family has again decided to wash their dirty laundry in public. Faryal Makhdoom started to respond to Amir’s announcement on Twitter accusing him of making false claims. She posted that Amir left his family because they ‘robbed’ him and not because of her.
Responding to the allegations of her moving on with another British boxer Anthony Joshua, Faryal stated that Amir should not be accusing another boxer because his own career was over.
After Amir called her a ‘gold digger’ in one of his tweets, Faryal responded that after all the years she stood by him defending a cheat and always had his back, yet he called her a gold digger.
Left my family and friends for this Faryal. I’m not hurt but another fighter. I’m making it public. You getting the divorce #Golddigger

She further stated that Amir wasn’t providing for her or her daughter and claimed “I pay house bills and bills for my daughter myself! It’s like I’m a single mother while he’s out messing.”
Lashing out at her husband of four years, Faryal threatened him in a post claiming the amount of evidence she had on him could destroy him, but added, “But since I loved you at one point in my life. I’ll just let it go.”
In one post, Faryal mentioned the video that leaked earlier this year in 2017 in which Amir was found indulging in inappropriate activity online during a web chat.
In December 2016, she gave an interview to ITV where she went public with all that she was forced to bear with in her marriage.
January saw a lot of ups and downs. After Amir’s indecent video, Faryal stood by her husband but gave an ultimatum to either pick her, or his family.
Towards the end of January 2017, Faryal revealed that she did not attend Amir’s younger brother’s wedding because she wasn’t invited.
Taking on Snapchat, Faryal commented, “Everyone’s been asking why I didn’t attend Amir’s brother’s wedding. I kept quiet.”
Faryal added that they were not even included in the festivities leading up to the wedding of Haroon Khan. She was quick with her comeback, as many questioned the duo as to whether there was some specific reason for their non-attendance.
“They could have at least tried,” she said.
A few months down the line in March, after the vicious, long-running public spat she shared that she thought her marriage with Amir Khan would be a “fairytale”, in an interview with Daily Mail.
“In my head, living with my new husband was going to be this fairytale,” she said.
“But it was hard and I didn’t have any friends. Bolton is very backward. Compared to New York, it’s a village,” said Faryal, who moved to England from New York to live with her husband after marrying him in 2013.
Faryal also rebutted reports that she had had plastic surgery. Instead, she told the publication, she had resorted to ‘fillers’.
“Because of lack of sleep, genes, dehydration, I get bags under my eyes and I wanted to get them lightened. So I went to my doctor, Simon [Ourian, a renowned cosmetic surgeon in LA] – he’s also Kim Kardashian’s doctor,” she explained.
She also went for fillers in her cheeks because she “likes high cheekbones” – something for which she came under fire from her in-laws who likened her to Michael Jackson.
Towards the end of March, the feud between Faryal and Amir’s family died down with Amir severing ties with the family. However, he mended his relationship with his family in June when he attended the Pakistan-India cricket match at Edgbaston and posted on Twitter “Past is the past. Looking forward to a brighter tomorrow.”
Responding to Amir Khan’s tweets Faryal Makhdoom stated that she can hold her head high knowing she’s “given this marriage her 100% while Amir clearly hasn’t.”
She added, that Amir was always around women, alcohol and then called himself a Muslim running a charity.
She apologised to friends and family, hurt by the public nature of the revelations, but added, “Amir did not need to do stupid tweets accusing others when he’s in the wrong.”
Faryal Makhdoom claimed that Amir’s own career wasn’t going well and therefore he was lashing out because he wanted attention.
Amir’s dwindling fame can be gauged from the fact that the boxing star put up his mansion Bolton mansion for sale 1.6 million pounds in June this year.
Joshua responds
Anthony Joshua, the 26-year-old undefeated British boxer, holding the unified world heavyweight champion, who Amir has accused his wife of having relations with responded on Twitter with a clip from Shaggy’s famous song ‘It wasn’t me’ followed by:
“Bantz aside, I hope you guys can resolve your situation or this is a hack as we have never even met! Plus I like my women BBW #ItWasntMe”.
