ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif, along with PML-N leaders Chaudhry Nisar, Ahsan Iqbal, Mehtab Abbasi and Pervez Rasheed, are attending a consultative meeting with Nawaz Sharif in Murree. Khawaja Saad Rafique and Khawaja Asif are also attending the high-level meeting.
Sources are reported to have stated that former States and Frontier Regions minister Lt Gen (retd) Abdul Qadir Baloch may be given the interior ministry portfolio.
Nisar may be given the post of foreign minister, sources have stated. Although it had been stated earlier that Nisar will not be a part of the new cabinet.
The meeting has been called to discuss recent political developments and formation of the new federal cabinet ahead of the oath taking ceremony due to take place later during the day. President Mamnoon Hussain will be administering the oath.
Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and finance minister Ishaq Dar will not be part of the interim federal cabinet. Most of the other members of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif cabinet are expected to retain their portfolios.
