Rs 3 million heist at Township bank

Robbers stormed into the branch of Habib Bank Limited (HBL) situated in Township police Area in broad daylight and fled away after collecting Rs 3 million at gunpoint, police sources said on Thursday. According to police, three robbers equipped with pistols forced their entry into the HBL Branch situated near Muhammad Ali Chowk in Township.
The bandits held up the banks staff and visitors at gunpoint and collected Rs 3 million. The bandits later fled away from the crime scene on foot and without facing any resistance. Police sources said that two of the bandits were bearded men and aged between 50 to 60 while the third was young man who was wearing a mask to avoid identification. Sources further said that the bank management has provided the video clips of the incident taken from CCTV cameras to the police investigators.
The police have registered the case and are investigating the matter with no arrest made so far. It is important to mention here that the incidents of bank robberies have registered a considerable increase in the recent past as more than 10 bank braches have been looted during the last couple of months.
