Former president Musharraf expresses satisfaction over SC verdict

Former President and chief of All Pakistan Muslim League General (rtd) Pervaiz Musharraf has expressed satisfaction on the Supreme Court`s verdict announcing prime minister’s disqualification. He added that the Panama case verdict will bring positive impact in the country.

Musharraf congratulated the entire nation on the court`s decision stating, “it’s a good decision. The entire nation is jubilantly distributing sweets,” he said.

Earlier, Justice Asif Saeed Khosa-led five member bench of Supreme Court of Pakistan announced the Panamagate verdict today that the Prime Minister has been disqualified for life and all cases against the prime minister and his family including children Maryam, Hussain and Hasan, son-in-law and Dar be sent to the NAB trial court. All cases must be decided within a period of 6 months, the bench ruled.

The Supreme Court also stated that the ECP should de-seat the PM for not disclosing his role in the Dubai-based Capital FZE company in his nomination papers, saying that this meant he was not ‘Sadiq’and ‘Amin’.

The bench has also declared that finance minister Ishaq Dar has also been disqualified.

The Supreme Court also specifically asked the president to “ensure a smooth transition for the democratic process.”
