Public education system

It is very tragic that past and present governments failed to bring the literacy rate up in the masses. Majority of the population is illiterate and un-educated as government schools, especially in rural areas leave much to be desired. The future of Pakistan seems bleak if we do not take necessary measures to overcome this drawback.

It is rather unfortunate that our parliamentarians have not been able to take corrective measures despite the Article 37 of the Constitution guarantees provision of education to the poor masses.

Christian and the missionary schools in our country used to run schools for the poor also along with their mainstream schools. They ensured that they ran schools for their poor community and provided good education.

Why can’t our private big school systems, run by the rich and mighty, do the same? We have chain of school systems who have more than hundred branches each in the country. The kind of money and the fee they are charging can easily provide this kind of facility without much burden on their pockets.

Our legislature can bring a law for running such schools as a necessary condition for the owners of these school systems. The Article 37 will provide the necessary support for this legislation and implementation later.
