First Pak-Iran border commission meeting held in Tehran

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office (FO) apprised on Wednesday that the first meeting of Pak-Iran border commission was held in Tehran.

The Pakistani side was led by Foreign Ministry’s Mansoor Ahmed Khan and included Southern Command Inspector General Frontier Corps Major General Sardar Tariq.

An FO spokesperson is reported to have said that matters pertaining to Pak-Iran border were highlighted during the meeting. The two sides held constructive discussions for effective implementation of existing border mechanisms within the framework of Agreement for Administration of Pakistan-Iran border of 1960.

The two parties also decided to collaborate against drug smugglers, human traffickers and terrorists.

Both sides also vowed to refrain from violating the 917-kilometres-long border between the two countries, the FO stated further.
