Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday alleged that all businesses of the Sharif family were fronts for money laundering.

In a series of tweets on Tuesday evening, he said that all enterprises of the Sharif family, established in Pakistan, UK, UAE, and Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, were in a loss and yet Nawaz Sharif and his children’s wealth has increased.

Imran further said that the Sharif family has focused on mega projects, instead of social welfare projects, from where money has been siphoned off. The PTI chairman once again reiterated that it was abundantly clear that their business is corruption.

The remarks by Imran come after a three-member special Supreme Court bench hearing the Panama Papers case observed on Tuesday that it would examine all the material and then decide on disqualifying the premier or sending the matter to an accountability court.

The PTI leaders lashed out against the ruling party during recess outside the Supreme Court where the defence was presenting its arguments. “The matter seems to be going towards the imprisonment of Hussain, Hassan, and Maryam Nawaz,” said PTI spokesperson Fawad Chaudhry. “Only a miracle can save Nawaz Sharif’s family from 14 years imprisonment and 10 years of disqualification.”

Speaking about the proceedings of the JIT being made public, he said the videos should be aired in cinemas, which will also help the film industry prosper. “If the video of Captain (retd) Safdar’s JIT proceedings are aired, the tickets would be sold in black.” He said the matter would be settled in the premier’s favour even now if he submits the relevant documents.

He claimed the prime minister has a week or two left in office, and advised the people to begin preparing for celebrations. PTI leader Naeemul Haq also said things appeared grim for the Sharif family as the premier’s disqualification was all but likely now. Following the adjournment, PTI Information Secretary Shafqat Mehmood said the Sharif family’s corruption has been laid bare in front of the Supreme Court.
