The Lahore High Court (LHC), on Friday, has vacated a stay on the construction of Ring Road’s Southern Loop-III and has allowed the Punjab government to initiate the construction work.

Bahria Town, a property developer, had filed a petition in the LHC, saying that the road passes through an under-construction housing scheme owned by the property developer.

The government’s counsel said that Bahria Town had, illegally, started construction without any permission from the Lahore Development Authority (LDA).

The court rejected the request of adjourning the hearing until Bahria Town’s counsel, Ahmed Awais, recovers from his ailment. Bahria Town counsel Azhar Siddiq said that the ruling was delivered without hearing the arguments of both parties and they would take their case to the Supreme Court.

Meantime, the assistant advocate general and Lahore commissioner told the court that construction will be completed by December as the stay had been vacated now.
