Deputy Ambassador of China Zhao Lijian on Thursday said that youth would become ambassadors of Sino-Pakistan friendship and they would build new bridges to bring the new generations closer.
Addressing the audience on the eve of send-off of a 20-member delegation of Pakistani students for summer camp to be held in Beijing, he said that the 10-day training at the camp to students from 35 countries of the world would help drastically to learn new skills, techniques and exchange of brotherhood.
“The students from 35 countries would form a small world at Beijing. They would also build a new community of shared destiny of the world,” he said. The senior diplomat, who is often referred to as a ‘one-man army’ to defend the CPEC in Pakistan, said that the Chinese Embassy and the Beijing Municipal Committee had sponsored all the expenses of the students.
“A new history has been made as majority of the students this year are being sent from Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. I hope when they would return, they would become ambassadors of Pak-China friendship and would share their experiences with their peers,” he added.
Zhao Lijian said that the credit for arranging the visit went to Diana Bao, the spouse of the Chinese ambassador, who made personal contribution to make the event possible. “The students we hope will have cherished memories. Most of the students will visit China for the first time. They will learn the ABC of Chinese language,” he added.
He said in year 2015, Chinese President Xi Jinping had made a historic visit to Pakistan which further enriched the all-weather friendship between Pakistan and China. “China doesn’t enjoy such a trust and friendship what we have with Pakistan. We call it iron-brother relationship. The CPEC was also launched during the same trip which is flagship project of BRI,” he added.
“We need to make new bridges and the China Embassy has sent 83 students and teachers. Most of the students are from Balochistan and Pakhtunkhwa. We want to promote cultural sensitivity and spirit between the two countries,” he added.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Zara Fatemi lauded the China Embassy for holding the event. “It’s an initiative to boost mutual friendship. Going to China to learn is a blessing. Sino-Pakistan friendship is higher than the mountains and deeper than the seas and sweeter than honey. We need to learn unity from China,” she added.
On the occasion, the students performed national songs and traditional dances of Balochistan and Pakhtunkhwa. Sports Director Sadaf Khan of Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Quetta, also made a speech.
