The Pakistan Cricket Board seems to have found a saviour in Emirates Cricket Board, which has promised to provide the venues for Pakitan’s future home series.
According to an official of the PCB, ECB Chief Executive Dilawar Mani has shown willingness to give cricket space to PCB to host its home series after the Wales and English Cricket Board pulled out due to the spot-fixing scam.
The ECB expressed its desire to host the two remaining home series that Pakistan is scheduled to host as per ICC’s Future Tours Programme. The PCB official said that Mani had offered the PCB for hosting series in UAE and the board will decide its future course of action after consultation with the governing board
“I’ve had a very brief discussion with the Pakistan Cricket Board management in this regard. Obviously the chairman is yet to give me a yes. I told them that if you look at Pakistan’s home series according to the Future Tours Programme, they are to host Sri Lanka in October next year and England in early 2012 (February-March).
Ideally if they could commit to the ECB now, our facilities could be more prepared. Everyone will benefit for we will have the time to sell sponsorships, commercialise the arrangements. We can also ensure the grounds are there and take care of any shortcomings,” Gulf News quoted Mani as saying.
The official stated that the PCB chairman is in UAE and is most likely hold detailed talks with the ECB chief executive.
