CJP summons Imran Khan in disqualification case

ISLAMABAD: The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Tuesday (today)  came down hard on Imran Khan’s legal counsel, Naeem Bukhari, over his client’s source of income for purchasing the property.

A three-member bench of the Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Saqib Nisar has summoned PTI Chairman Imran Khan tomorrow in the hearing of a petition seeking his disqualification.

The Chief Justice said certain important questions were raised in the case. He expressed dissatisfaction over the reply submitted by the counsel appearing on behalf of Imran Khan

He said Imran Khan should appear in person and explain his position.

The CJP came down hard on Imran’s legal representative Naeem Bukhari over his client’s source of income for purchasing the Bani Gala estate.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Hanif Abbasi had filed a petition against PTI Chairman Imran Khan accusing the PTI leader of not declaring his assets to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP). The petition seeks to disqualify Khan, based on alleged violations of the Income Tax Ordinance 1979 and Peoples Act 1974.
