UNESCO accepts Punjab govt’s stance over OLMT project: minister

LAHORE: Punjab Schools Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan has disclosed that the UNESCO has endorsed Punjab government’s stance over passing of Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT) near to the heritage buildings.

He said this in a statement issued from Poland to Pakistani media after the World Heritage Conference that held in Poland.

He said that government of Punjab had submitted its official stance to the UNESCO Secretariat regarding construction of OLMT in Lahore and the same was presented to members of the World Heritage Conference.

All the countries unanimously accepted the point of view of the Punjab government with regard to the passing of Orange Line Train near heritage buildings after detailed deliberations.

In his statement, the minister said that international experts have agreed that the OLMT project will not affect the heritage of Lahore.
