In a photo that went viral a few days back, David Beckham was shown kissing his five-year-old daughter, Harper on the lips. The picture came under heavy criticism due to that.
Speaking during a Facebook Live interview, he said: “We want to show our kids love.” Even his wife, Victoria came under fire for posting a similar picture of herself with her daughter last year.
“I got criticised for kissing my daughter on the lips the other day,” he said.
“I kiss all my kids on the lips.
“Brooklyn, maybe not. Brooklyn’s 18, he might find that a little bit strange.”
“But I’m very affectionate with the kids. It’s how I was brought up and Victoria, and it’s how we are with our children.
“We want to show our kids love and we protect them, look after them, and support them, and you know, we’re very affectionate with them.”
This incident is not a first of its kind. US actress Hilary Duff also took a lot of abuse last year after being photographed kissing her son at Disneyland in California.
In a response to all the hateful comments, Hilary Duff said that anyone commenting that a kiss on the lips with her four-year-old is inappropriate, should just go ahead and unfollow her.
Jessica Alba is also one of the artists who’ve been criticised for this act.
