Young lawyers can play an important role in eliminating corruption from the judiciary and if they support the judiciary then it can fight corruption, Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice (CJ) Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry said on Tuesday.
He was addressing young lawyers at the Aiwan-e-Adl Bar Room. The LHC CJ visited Aiwan-e-Adl to preside over the annual ceremony of the Young Lawyers’ Forum (YLF). He said that it is up to young lawyers to maintain dignity of the judiciary. “If young lawyers are ready to come forward then we can say that we will be successful,” the CJ said.
He said that complaint boxes have been placed outside the courts of district and sessions judges (D&SJ) and senior civil judges for the public to drop their complaints against corruption by judges and day-by-day action would be taken on these complaints. The CJ said that corruption is rampant in naib courts and in the future, transfers would be made from time to time.
“We will not allow lower staff of lower courts to establish their monopoly in the judicial system and crush this trend and we are looking towards young lawyers to come forward to eliminate corruption,” he said.
