ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday ordered the release of a man after he served 17 years in jail.
The accused, Aslam, was charged with the murder of a man named Sarwar in 1999 and was sentenced to life.
During the hearing of the case, Justice Asif Khosa remarked that “there is no eye witness of the incident.” He dismissed the case for lack of evidence and ordered the man to be released. Moreover, Justice Khosa stated that the courts had reached the verdict without taking all the facts into account.
The acting chief justice expressed his dissatisfaction at the inability of high court judges in discerning the trial court’s flawed judgement.
