—Secretary General Rana Mehboob Akhtar expresses gratitude to PML leaders
LAHORE: Pakistan Awami Raj Party Secretary General Rana Mehboob Akhtar and other leaders called on Pakistan Muslim League (PML) senior central leader and former deputy prime minister Ch Parvez Elahi and Central Secretary General and MNA Tariq Bashir Cheema at their residence on Sunday.
Strongly condemning the oppression against MNA Jamshed Dasti, Ch Parvez Elahi said that Jamshed Dasti is a lone political prisoner who is being targeted with the worst political victimisation. He expressed the hope that the court will do justice with him.
He asked the ruler to explain what Dasti’s real crime was. He said that the cases registered against him were bogus and the reason behind his victimisation is his criticism of the ruler’s anti-country and anti-people policies.
Rana Mehboob Akhtar said that despite being granted bail by the court in one case, his arrest in other cases and declaring him terrorist reflected the undemocratic and unconstitutional mentality of the rulers.
He expressed hearty gratitude to Ch Parvez Elahi, Tariq Bashir Cheema and PML on raising voice against the arrest of Jamshed Dasti and the demand for his release. He said that Ch Parvez Elahi has once again proved that he is with the oppressed people of South Punjab and is willing to raise his voice for their rights besides rendering ideal and invaluable services for them during his tenure.
Rana Mehboob Akhtar was also accompanied by Multan District President Mian Mazhar Abbas.
