HYDERABAD: A formal opening ceremony of an advance diagnostic and research centre was held at the Jamshoro’s Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) on Thursday.

LUMHS Vice Chancellor (VC) Prof Noshad A Shaikh, while addressing the ceremony, said that keeping in view the growing number of road accidents happening on the Super/Indus Highways, a large number of patients with trauma were being attended at Liaquat University Hospital Jamshoro and patients in critical condition were being referred to Hyderabad due to lack of facilities of CT scan and MRI. Therefore, the university had established a state of the art advanced diagnostic and research centre for promptly diagnosing and treating patients.

The centre is equipped with latest MRI and CT scan units with all other radiology diagnostic facilities to attend the patients round the clock, he added.

The VC said that the establishment of this centre was going to be very useful for the entire region, especially for the victims of road traffic accidents.

Prof Noshad Shaikh said that the victims of road traffic accidents who need MRI/CT scan in an emergency as well as the destitute patients would be treated free of cost, while the other patients will be charged for the said treatments on highly subsidised rates.
