ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Tuesday (today) dismissed Hussain Nawaz’s objection to the recording of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s sessions following the leak of Hussain Nawaz’s photo.

The SC had reserved the decision on Hussain’s petition regarding the leak of his photograph from the Federal Judicial Academy—headquarter of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT) probing corruption charges against Sharif family.

The three-member is headed by Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan includes Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Azmat Saeed Sheikh.

Hussain Nawaz had objected to the recording of the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT)’s sessions. In the application, Hussain Nawaz appealed the apex court to form a judicial commission over the issue.

“That the whole purpose of releasing this photograph on the social media is irreconcilable with any bona fides; on the contrary, the manner and timing of the release of the photograph has raised numerous questions about the motives of the person or persons behind this sordid affair,” said the applicant.

Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Additional Director-General Wajid Zia, who is heading the JIT, took notice of the leaked picture.

The leaked photograph shows the PM’s son sitting by himself on the date of his first appearance before the JIT.

The photo’s emergence on social media triggered a debate about the motive for the leak, as well as the identity of the person who leaked it. Both the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf have accused each other of orchestrating the leak.

The bench will also hear on Tuesday (today) the attorney general’s response to the court’s questions regarding the role of the Intelligence Bureau with regards to the case.
