Diarrhoea outbreak: One dead, 45 hospitalised in Badin

BADIN: At least 45 diarrhoea cases, including seven children, 36 females and two men, have been reported on Wednesday in Afzal Jat near Kadhan Town, district Badin.

According to reports, the infected were brought to the Kadhan Rural Health Centre for treatment where due to lack of the facilities, were referred to the Indus Civil Hospital, Badin.

The reason for the outbreak was stated to be contaminated potable water.

Villagers, while talking to media, said that due to non-provision of clean drinking water, they were forced to drink contaminated water.

Meanwhile, Badin’s Indus Hospital ER Incharge Dr Hassan Soomro said that total 45 people were admitted to the hospital, among which five women were reported to be in critical condition, while others were discharged after first aid treatment.

A minor girl named Aisha, one- year-old daughter of Sawan Jat, died on the spot.
