LAHORE
Organizing Committee of the 16th Asian Games has announced the schedule of the hockey event which will be held from November 12 to November 27 at Guangzhou, China.
According to a press release issued on Tuesday, the men’s hockey event will take place from November 15 to 25 for which the ten teams have been divided in two pools. Pool A comprises of Korea, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Oman while Group B includes Pakistan, India, Japan, Bangladesh and Hong Kong.
As per the schedule, Pakistan will play its first match against Hong Kong on November 17, second match against Japan on November 18, third match against India on November 20 and the fourth and final pool match against Bangladesh on November 21. Classification matches and semifinals will be played on November 23, while position matches and the final will be played on November 25.
PHF Junior Jockey League
The second Pakistan Hockey Federation Junior Super Hockey League will begin today at the National Hockey Stadium Lahore. Prize money of 2 million rupees will be distributed amongst the players while the player of the tournament will receive a motor cycle. Every match of the league will be telecast live on Geo Super.
All the eight participating teams have reached Lahore. The scrutiny of the teams will also start today before the matches. 3-member credentials check committee has been constituted for the scrutiny of the players. Rana Mujahid Ali will be the convener while Deputy Collector Customs Habib Ahmad and Shahid Ali Khan will be its members.
This league will be played on the round robin league basis and FIH rules will be followed throughout the tournament. The teams participating in the event are Lahore, Sialkot, Karachi, Faisalabad, Quetta, PHF Academy, Islamabad and Peshawar. Internationally qualified coaches have been detailed with the teams.
