Municipal workers threaten to protest against PTI govt

PESHAWAR: United Municipal Workers and All Municipal Workers Unions on Tuesday threatened to protest against PTI-led Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government for planned privatisation of Water Supply and Sanitation Peshawar (WSSP).

In a meeting attended by All Pakistan Local Government Workers Federation President Riaz Khan, President Mushtaq Mashi and office bearers of the two unions; planned privatisation of WSSP was strongly condemned.

The speakers said the exploitation of workers continued in KP despite pledges of PTI-led government, adding that for the last three years the municipal employees did not get up-gradation, allowance and loan. They also stressed that children of retired employees were also not inducted against employees’ quota.

The speakers demanded the KP government to pay attention to their demands or face mass protests.
