–Urges them to prepare for the elections

LAHORE: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari once again lashed out at the rulers and reaffirmed party’s stance to stand by the institutions in case of any confrontation between the Sharif brothers and state institutions in the wake of ongoing investigations by the Joint Investigation Team (JIT).

“The Takht-e-Raiwaid’ is repeating the policy of confrontation with the state institutions as the members of JIT are being threatened by the ruling party, which is deliberately trying to make the JIT controversial to avoid the process of accountability,” Bilawal said, while addressing the workers of PPP from central Punjab in Lahore on Monday.

It is worth mentioning here that the PPP chairman spent almost a week in Lahore as part of the party’s restructuring plan in the Punjab and held meetings with the office bearers hailing from different parts of the province, including Faisalabad, Sargodha, Sahiwal and Multan divisions in Iftar parties that were arranged in the honour of party workers.

“The leadership of PML-N has always survived the process of accountability with the connivance of powerful establishment and it is the only party that got maximum relief from the judiciary in the history of Pakistan,” Bilwal said.

He further added that the ruling party is crying foul and making the JIT controversial when it faced the genuine accountability process for the first time. “The treatment given to the son of the prime minister by the JIT was not humiliating as the leaked photograph of his son depicts that he had all the facilities available by the JIT,” he said.

“Mian Sahib, have you forgotten the treatment given to Asif Ali Zardari during his days of interrogation? His tongue was cut in the jail and his wife (Benazir Bhutto) faced utter humiliation in the court’s hearing and all this was done on your directives,” presidentBilawal said.

He further added that he is least worried about the people who are leaving the PPP as his only asset is the true workers of PPP who stand by the party through thick and thin. “General elections are inching closer every day and I urge all the workers to prepare themselves for the elections and I will personally visit my workers at the divisional level after Eid,” he asserted.

Earlier addressing the workers, PPP’s central President Qamar Zaman Kaira said that the organisational structure of the PPP is in the final stage and it will be completed soon after Eid.

“The self-claimed piousness of the incumbent rulers has been exposed as they are facing the accountability process, as they have started attacking the state institutions when they failed to provide proofs of their innocence,” Kaira said.

He further added that the PML-N has deliberately put on fire the record of Metro Bus Train and Nandipur Power Plant to avoid the process of accountability and they are ironically claiming that they have changed the fate of the people of Punjab.

Important leadership of PPP including Mian Manzoor Watto, Ch Aitzaz Ahsan, Azizur Rehman Chan, Samina Khalid Ghurki, Ch Manzoor and Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar were also present on the occasion.

A worker tried to reach the stage at the end of Bilawal’s address but he was stopped by the guards posted near the stage to keep people away. A large number of the Sindh Police officials were deputed for the security of the public-meeting.
