LAHORE – Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Executive Committee Chairman Najam Sethi demanded the appointment of Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman on merit following the fiasco of Bani Gala flat ownership.

In a series of tweets, Sethi stressed the need for revamping political structure in the country to nurture talent.

“Pak politics cannot be fixed if the Chairman of the PTI is not appointed on professional merit,” tweeted the journalist-turned-PCB official on Sunday.

The journalist who was the Caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab in 2013 expressed his disbelief regarding the party persisting with people who aren’t qualified at the helm.

“Unless PTI structure is totally revamped/reformed, despite an abundance of talent the gap between PTI & PML-N will keep increasing,” Sethi further tweeted.

“As a former CM I know winning & losing are part of elections but it’s painful to watch PTI being thrashed by PML-N without putting up a fight,” he added.

Talking to The Dependent after his tweets Sethi maintained that his criticism wasn’t directed against any particular individual.

“This is constructive criticism based on my past successes in politics which have helped me become the Chief Minister in the past, and are now going to make me the next PCB chairman,” he said.
