MARDAN: The parents and relatives of the suspects arrested in Mashal Khan murder case have rejected the results of the report released by the joint investigation team and have accused that the members of the JIT were biased and that only one seed of the picture was presented.

They were addressing a press conference on Thursday. Mashal Khan, a student of journalism and mass communication department, Abdul Wali Khan University Mardan was lynched by a mob on campus and then brutally killed in front of a whole crowd, on charges of ‘blasphemy.’

District councillors Mumtaz Bahadar, Sardar Khan, Dr Sahibzada, Dr Sher Wali and Ameer Mohammad Khan were leading the protests.

Dr Sahibzada told the press conference that the police arrested 57 suspects in the case. He claimed that most of the people were arrested only on the basis of suspicion and the police had no proof against them.

Sardar Khan alleged that the police and other officials were using delay tactics in submission of the challan which was creating difficulties and complications for the families of the arrested persons.

Mumtaz Bahadar said the issue was wrongly politicised by some political parties. He also requested the concerned authorities not to shift the case from Mardan at the request of Mashal Khan’s father, to elsewhere since it will become very difficult for around 60 families of the suspects to travel to and from the new location.

The protestors threatened that they will launch regular protests if their demands are not met.

    • No; those supporting him should be.
What is wrong in what those who are protesting are saying; that there is no proof against the suspects?

  1. They should have been shot dead on the spot. The matter should not have been lingered on to this extent. The matter should be immediately transferred to high Court for speedy justice.
