Dozens of Jamaat-i-Islami (JI) workers on Sunday held a protest rally in front of the National Press Club against the violation of Pakistan’s airspace and killing of Osama Bin Laden by the US forces in Abbotabad.
Addressing the rally organised by the JI’s local chapter, the party leaders demanded the military leadership to review the lapses and flaws, saying the military commanders’ statement that it would review the relationship with the US in case another assault on the country was not enough to pacify the sentiments of the people.
Former MNA Mian Aslam said the nation was suffering because of the government’s pro-US policy. “The death of one Osama is resulting in the birth of hundreds of Osamas,” he remarked. He stated that the civil and military leadership were shifting responsibility of the incident on each other and no consensus stance on the issue came from any quarter concerned. He said Pakistan both on economic and human fronts in the war on terror but the US and Western world was still casting doubts on its intentions.
He urged the rulers to prefer the national interest and detach from the ongoing war against terrorism.
