ISLAMABAD: Qatari Prince Sheikh Hamad Bin Jassim Bin Jaber Al-Thani has sent a letter to the Joint Investigation Team (JIT), that is investigating the prime minister’s family’s financial situation abroad, according to reports.
The letter reportedly first reached the Pakistan Embassy in Doha, and then — without any tampering — to the JIT headquarters at the Federal Judicial Academy.
Last week, the JIT sent a second letter to Qatar’s Al-Thani family, and gave them three options to record their statements.
The first option mentioned that two JIT members could leave for Qatar to record their statements in relation to the probe.
The second option was for the royal family to send a written response to aid the investigation.
According to the third option, a statement by the Qatari family via video link could also be recorded with the JIT.
Earlier, on May 29, the JIT’s head — Federal Investigation Agency’s Wajid Zia — had informed the Supreme Court bench conducting the implementation proceedings of the Panama case that the Qatari prince had been summoned to record his statement with the JIT but he was yet to respond to their call.
The Joint Investigation Team (JIT) responsible for investigating Sharif family’s offshore assets, will submit its report in the apex court on Tuesday after reviewing the documents submitted by premier’s sons Hussain Nawaz and Hassan Nawaz.
FIA Additional Director General Wajid Zia will chair the JIT session on Monday at the judicial academy in Islamabad.
As per details, JIT will compile a comprehensive report keeping in consideration the investigation process and the documents submitted by prime minister’s sons. The report will be submitted in Supreme Court (SC) on Tuesday.
Hussain Nawaz has appeared four times before the JIT while Hassan Nawaz has appeared for once.
