JI takes out rallies against Abbottabad operation

On the call of Jamaat-e-Islami Amir Syed Munawar Hassan, a large number of JI workers took out a rally in the city to protest the killing of Osama bin Laden in the Abbottabad operation. The rally, led by Divisional Amir Azeeem Randhawa, General Secretary Ghulam Abbas, Malik Muhammad Din, Tahir Rasheed, Rana Ikram Ullah, Mian Khalid Farooq, Mian Ejaz, Bilal Anwar, Rana Aziz, Saeedur Rehman, Abdul Kareem and others, started from the Jamaat headquarters in Chiniot Bazaar took its way from Ghanta Ghar Chowk and ended at District Council Chowk near the press club.
Only a few hundred people joined the rally while the police had beefed up security across the city to avoid any untoward incident. Addressing the rally, Azeem Randhawa said the operation had put a big question mark on the sovereignty of Pakistan. “The whole nation is gripped under a feeling of commotion and nervousness as our cities are vulnerable to American drones.” he said. “The cowardly stance of our rulers shows they have compromised the national interest which is quite shameful for all of us,” he added.
On the occasion, a number of participants expressed their open remarks in favour of Osama and predicted the American inability to stop resistance. An angry protester said, Jihad against the US will not stop with bin Laden’s death. Her is a shaheed and his blood will give birth to thousands of Osamas.” Another protester condemned the US operation and described it as increasing US interference in the affairs of Pakistan. “The army’s response that it will not allow a repeat of this type of action in future is not sufficient,” he said.
The protesters carried placards and banners and shouted slogans against the US. Dozens of protesters demanded the withdrawal of the US and NATO forces from Pakistan and Afghanistan. They blocked the road by burning tyres.
HAFIZABAD – Jamaat-e-Islami, Hafizabad chapter, took out a rally against the Abbotttabad operation conducted by the American CIA. The rally, led by Dr Yaseen Ansari, Amanullah Chatta and Mian Yousaf tahami, started from Jamia Al-Fatah and ended at Vaneki Chowk after passing through various roads. The participants of the rally raised slogans against America and the Pakistan government. Addressing the rally, the speakers called the operation the failure of government and against the country’s sovereignty.
