Many areas of Sindh, including Karachi and Hyderabad, face shortage of electricity which has added to people’s miseries.
Apart from increased load shedding, a large number of complaints lodged by consumers were related to sudden power breakdowns.
Qasimabad and Latifabad, main areas of Hyderabad, have been affected due to these electricity variations.
The power outages were creating many problems for the people.
A number of residents of different localities complained that the schedule of the power load shedding had not been observed for the last three days.
In addition to that, the acute shortage of water supply in many parts of Hyderabad also made the citizens helpless and despite several protests, no attention is being paid by the concerned civic departments to facilitate the consumers.
Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO), the responsible power supply company to Hyderabad and interior parts of Sindh has not been able to ensure its commitment to providing uninterrupted power supply amidst the claim of acquiring electricity from the private sector.
Residents of different localities complained of the prolong power suspension and water shortage.
They were of the view that besides power suspension the area people were facing low voltage since long.
Citizens of different localities appealed to the higher authorities to solve the problem of the power outage.
Outraged by prolonged power outages, Karachiites take to the streets
Prolonged load shedding in Karachi from the onset of Ramzan has forced people to stage protests against K-Electric and government.
As people ran out of patience, they stormed K-Electric’s office in Gulistan Johar Block-12 damaging property and set it ablaze. Unidentified men also opened fire at the office late night.
Meanwhile, the civilians’ burnt tyres and blocked roads in Nazimabad and Shahrah-i-Faisal areas.
The people view prolonged power outages by K-Electric unjustifiable while the government’s silence during this entire scenario is questionable.
The fifth Sehri of Karachiites also underwent a power cut as blackouts were witnessed in homes, streets and markets.
While accusing the government and K-Electric of stealing their rights, people are demanding the availability of uninterrupted electricity supply.
Earlier, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has directed the K-Electric to improve power generation and supply system in Karachi.
He also expressed his anger over prolonged power outages in Karachi. The Sindh CM professed that such prolonged outages are not a fair thing to do on behalf of the federal government.
“We already warned that if K-Electric doesn’t improve its performance, problems will be created in Ramzan,” Shah said.
