Saad Irfan is a digital artist who is currently working as an art director. He has spent some three years in the CG (computer graphics) industry. However, he deems digital art and manual art as different mediums.
Not belonging to a well-off family, Irfan has always believed in self-training and received a lot of encouragement from his family.
He said that when he was a kid, he used to play a lot of video games and watch many cartoons, and he used to wonder how those drawings move and always wanted to do them himself, so they are the main sources of his inspiration.
He also receives inspiration from comics and renowned personalities like Quentin Tarantino, Leonardo da Vinci, Simon Bisley, Marko Djurdjevic and Frank Miller.
He said that all projects start with brainstorming, followed by sketching and thumbnail drawings, and then they are shown to the art director before moving on to the final product.
“When working on personal projects, the world is your oyster. And when you’re working as a freelancer, you still have creative freedom. However, when on job, everything has to be done according to your boss’ wishes,” he said.
He wishes to see himself working for Hollywood in the future, and advises beginner artists to draw as much as they possibly could until no one could get in the way of their goals.
