Recently the Prime Minister and CM Punjab inaugurated the Sahiwal coal power project of 1320 Megawatt, but load shedding is on fire these days. On one hand we see inaugurations of power projects every month but on the other hand just after a few days break the load shedding gets back on track. The weather is getting hotter and humid day by day. Temperatures in Lahore have now gone above 44 degrees and with Ramzan, situation has gone worse. It’s not just Lahore but the recent wave of load shedding has struck the whole Province. We see a number of people suffering from heat stroke every day. According to Meteorological Department heat intensity will increase in the upcoming 2-3 days in the plains of Punjab especially in Lahore. Ramzan is here, the government needs to devise a proper plan so that people do not face any kind of difficulty during the holy month. Load shedding hours should be reduced to facilitate people and the plan should be designed in a way that there is no load shedding during sehri and iftar. With the recent heat wave, its growing intensity in the coming days and with the Ramzan approaching, load shedding is a major concern that needs to be addressed on serious grounds. Hoping that all the power projects that have been completed so far and those which are in pipeline will help counter this problem of load shedding and people will not only get electricity supply 24/7, rather the electricity rates will also be reduced.
