It is only strong mothers who can guarantee a strong nation and Pakistan’s strength and development is most dependent upon its mothers – the women who, with selfless love and devotion, rear the future of the country, said Sindh Power Minister Shazia Marri in a statement issued on the Mother’s Day.
Paying tribute to all mothers on this day, Marri said that the intrinsic worth of mothers could neither be gauged, nor measured. “For a mother’s love is unconditional and limitless,” she said, adding that every day must be Mother’s Day.
Marri added that the worth of our mother is never as clear as that which Islam has decreed. That we must respect her above all other human relations is ample evidence of her place in our lives.
Marri said that Pakistan was indebted to its mothers – women who nurture the future of the nation and were the most intrinsic part of nation building. “These women – mothers like Mohtarma Fatima Jinnah, Mohtarma Nusrat Bhutto and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto – these mothers of matchless valour inspire us all to struggle for Pakistan, and to strive to take our nation to new heights of everlasting glory. Their endeavors and sacrifices live on, to remind us of why we must treasure this land of ours.”
Marri noted that the present government has taken many concrete measures to ensure the strengthening and emancipation of the mothers of Pakistan. “Our pro-women policies are aimed towards providing women the support they deserve, be it economic, through the BISP, or security, by introducing legislation against the harassment of women in the workplace, and domestic violence against women- we are committed to establishing an environment where women are free to realise their full potential without fear of discrimination,” she elaborated, adding that the current government is always mindful of its duty towards the mothers of the nation. “We never forget that ultimately it is the hand that rocks the cradle that also rules the world,” she said.
