Relatives of Sargodha shrine victims protest outside NPC

ISLAMABAD: The relatives of some 20 people who were murdered by the custodian of a Sufi shrine in Sargodha on April 2 got together outside the National Press Club (NPC) on Saturday to protest. The protesters claimed that though Waheed and three of his affiliates were arrested but his other colleagues were still at large.

The custodian tortured and murdered the devotees, who came to the shrine for treatment of various physical and mental illnesses.

Muhammad Akram, one of the protesters, while talking to local media outlet stated that the companions of the shrine’s custodian were posing threat to the people of the area.

“Political personalities and police officers are disciples of the custodian so they are favouring him,” he claimed.

“The relatives of the deceased have been running from pillar to post to get the justice, that is why we have come to Islamabad as nobody listened to us in Sargodha,” he said.

Protesters also appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to ensure justice to them.
