Rs 35.662b earmarked for HEC for year 2017-18

The federal government has earmarked Rs 35662.801 million for Higher Education Commission (HEC) for 106 on-going and 63 new schemes for the fiscal year 2017-18.

According to the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP), out of the total Rs 35.662 billion, an amount of Rs 26474.150 million has been allocated for 106 on-going schemes, while Rs 9188.651 million have been earmarked for 63 new schemes.

According to details, in the on-going schemes, out of total Rs 2.647 billion, an amount of Rs 550 million has been earmarked for indigenous Phd fellowship for 5,000 scholars, HEC (Phase-II), Rs 527.500 have been allocated for Pak-USAID Merit and Needs Based Scholarship Programme, Rs 500 million have been earmarked for establishment of University of Central Asia and Pakistan (UCAP) Phase-I (HEC), Rs 500 million have been allocated for establishment of Technology Development Fund for HEC Scholars returning after completion of Phd to introduce new technologies application in Pakistan, Rs 462 million have been earmarked for completion of leftover work on academic block at Hazara University, Mansehra, Rs 400 million have been earmarked for School of Dentistry, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Medical University, Islamabad, Rs 400 million have been allocated for Centre of Excellence in Mathematics at PIEAS, Islamabad, Rs 311.436 million for establishment of school and professional development at Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University, Quetta and Rs 300 million for development of University of Dir, Sheringal.

In the new schemes, a total of Rs 9.188 billion have been allocated of which Rs 400 million have been earmarked for establishment of National Science and Technology Park (NSTP) at Central Campus Nust (public private partnership), Rs 300 million have been allocated for establishment of university campus of CIIT, Kala Shah Kaku, Rs 300 have been allocated for provision of accommodation facilities for female students in public sector universities (Umbrella project), Rs 200 million have been earmarked for strengthening of core network and expansion of PERN footprints through CPEC Optical Fiber (PERN-III)- (HEC), Rs 200 million have been allocated for establishment of National Center in Basic Sciences, Rs 200 million have been earmarked for development of academic and research infrastructure of University of Gwadar, Rs 200 million have been allocated for establishment of Baba Guru Nanak International University at Nankana Sahib (Cost sharing with Pakistan Evacuee Trust Board), Rs 200 million have been earmarked for establishment of Gandhara University at Taxila (Cost sharing with Pakistan Evacuee Trust Board).

  1. I am sorry but I am not satisfied With that little amount especially when they have allocated 920 billion to Army instead of reducing. No big initiave for skill development of youth
