Govt focused on infrastructure development: Zubair

KARACHI: Every possible resource is being utilised for the development of the infrastructure, and the federal government is also extending full cooperation in this regard.

These views were expressed by Sindh Governor Muhammad Zubair, while talking to the managing committee members of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), during a visit to the federation, said a statement from the Governor House on Thursday.

FPCCI President Zubair Tufail, industrialist SM Munir, Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Senator Abdul Haseeb Khan and Abdul Sami Khan were also present at the occasion.

The Sindh governor was of the view that the traders and businessmen are the backbone of the country’s economy and play a vital role in the achievement of the economic growth targets.

Zubair pointed out that the federal government was also extending full assistance towards the infrastructure development as Karachi is the commercial and economic hub of the country and multinational companies from various parts of the world are doing profitable business.

The restoration of law and order in the metropolis also enhanced the confidence of the investors, traders and businessmen; and despite many challenges, the economic growth is on the increase, the governor added.

Zubair said that the focus of the government was on development works and stability so foreign investors are being provided with incentives and the required cooperation.

The governor said that the fruits of the government policies are coming to the fore and that this is being acknowledged internationally as well.

He reiterated that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would prove to be a game-changer for the region as well.

Zubair said that with the completion of energy projects, some 10,500 MW of electricity would be added to the national grid by March 2018 which would suffice to meet out requirements.
