Quaid-E-University will resume educational activities today following clashes between two student groups on May 20. As per a notification issued by the university administration, the university had been closed keeping in view the volatile situation following the clash between two student groups inside the university premises. Moreover, the hostels had been evacuated following the incident.
At least 30 people were reportedly injured during the clash.
The police had filed FIRs against 200 unidentified persons and 25 nominated ones over the clash. The nominated persons have been accused of illegally possessing weapons, wreaking havoc at the varsity and on murder attempts.
Out of the 25 names, 12 are of students belonging to the Mehran Students Council, while 13 others are of those from the Baloch council. The FIR stated one of the students belonging to the Mehran council was arrested with weapons in possession.
The FIRs have been lodged by Quaid-i-Azam University Deputy Registrar Humayun Khan at the Secretariat police station.
Authorities had also called in Rangers to control the situation. Police had also arrested a few students involved in the clash from the scene.
The injured students had been shifted to the hospital including those wounded by gunshots.
